For those asking, NWSS will NOT be running a coach to the friendly match against Chelsea on Saturday 29th August. With a reduced capacity at the Amex of only 2,500 for this game we have too few passenger numbers to make it viable and too short notice to arrange travel I’m afraid. Sorry folks.
Coach transport update
18th August 2020: Last night’s Q&A online fans forum with Paul Barber prompted some very interesting questions about fans returning to the Amex during this Covid 19 period. It looks as if Albion plan to introduce a ballot system for fans to get match tickets in a crowd capacity limited to around 10,000.
The NWSS committee have today held a meeting to explore the feasibility in regard to providing limited coach transport to matches during this Covid period. We await further news from the Albion over the coming weeks as they develop their plans. We will keep you posted as things move along.
2020 AGM
NWSS held it’s AGM on Wednesday 1st July at 7.30pm, uniquely as an online event this year.
Due to the coronavirus outbreak and social distancing rules we were unable to hold our AGM as a group gathering inside a room as we would normally do, so we arranged to hold it online by a Zoom conference call. Those wishing to attend the AGM were sent a Zoom invitation link to enable them to join the meeting. As expected numbers were lower than last year (no doubt due to the lack of bar facilities!) but those that did attend were welcomed by club chairman Dave Owen and committee members Ian Morris, Mike Wilson and John Jory.
Committee re-elected. There were no other nominations so the existing committee was re-elected with Dave Owen stepping up as chairman for the upcoming year. John Jory is now responsible for coach seat allocation with Ian Morris and Mike Wilson remaining in their respective posts of treasurer and secretary.
Andy Stonestreet was nominated and elected as the first ever NWSS life member in recognition of his contribution in setting up the club in 2011 and his hard work over the last eleven years in helping to grow the club to establish it as one of the biggest Albion supporter groups in the country.
Charitable donations of £6,000 were proposed by the NWSS committe to be split evenly across twelve different charities and organisations. NWSS club members had suggested these twelve nominated charities. A remarkable total of £41,029 has now been donated to various charities and good causes since the formation of NWSS in 2011.
Callum Budd – Inspirational young coaching role model
NWSS member and coach 2 traveller Callum Budd features in an article on the Horsham Sports Development website. It’s good to see that this brave young man has not let his disabilities stop him from becoming an inspiration to others. Callum will also be riding in a bike ride for the Friends of Wheels For All to help raise funds for replacement bikes that were recently stolen from Wheels For All. If you want to help support WFA and sponsor him then please just drop us a line and we’ll put you in touch.

NWSS charitable donations hit £41,000!
At it’s recent recent AGM it was announced that NWSS would be donating £6,000 to various local charities and organisations as suggested by its members. A sum of £500 is being donated to each of the following twelve good causes:
Horsham Matters
Friends of Horsham Hospital
St Catherine’s Hospice
St Barnabas House Hospice
Springboard Project
QEII School
Sands United Brighton & Hove
Henfield Scout Community Centre Building Appeal
West Sussex Mediation
Friends of Wheels for All – sponsor Callum Budd on bike ride to replace stolen bikes
Cancer Research UK
Albion in the Comunity
Since it’s formation in 2011 NWSS has now donated a staggering total of £41,029 to local charities, organisations and youth sport. A great effort, many thanks to all our members and those travelling on our coaches in helping to contribute to such worthy causes.
New NWSS membership scheme introduced
As of 1st June 2020 we have introduced a brand new online membership scheme. Previous members will need to re-register and sign up as new members by following the membership link on our homepage. The old membership system has now ceased and been replaced by the new online scheme, your previous NWSS membership number is therefore no longer relevant. Membership is still free.
Travel to remaining home fixtures 2019/20
Due to the current coronavirus outbreak Albion’s last five home matches of the 2019/20 season are now being played behind closed doors. We are offering a discount to existing coach season ticket holders against next season’s CST for those renewing or alternatively, for those not renewing, we are offering a refund. There is an option to donate refunds into the NWSS charity pot. Please contact ian@nwsseagulls.co.uk to advise your preferred option.
Memberships, CST’s and coach routes for 2020/21
From June 1st 2020 NWSS will be introducing its new online membership scheme and will also commence processing coach season ticket (CST) applications for the 2020/21 football season. The application for a CST is now to be done as part of the online membership registration process. Membership to NWSS is renewable annually every June and it’s still free to join.
The coach routes for 2020/21 are yet to be finalised but we are hoping to keep them broadly in line with last season, we will let members know as soon as these routes have been finalised.
Due to the coronavirus outbreak Albion are currently playing all their matches behind closed doors. Our coach season ticket prices for 2020/21 will be announced once we know when Albion will be opening up the Amex to supporters again.
